Reggae artist Popcaan has allegedly been arrested following an on-stage altercation with cops at a show in Antigua. In the Instagram footage below, you can see Popcaan performing for an excited crowd when a fan hops onto the stage and begins dancing with the Jamaican artist. Though the fan’s appearance was abrupt, he didn’t appear to be interrupting Popcaan’s performance; that moment came when a nearby police officer tried to guide the unruly fan off of the stage. Popcaan, who didn’t appear to want even a disruptive fan to be removed from the festivities, tried to interrupt the cop’s apprehension of the fan, leading to an altercation between the cop and Popcaan himself.
After light slaps and shoves were exchanged, Popcaan’s DJ cut the music, and authorities appeared to lead Popcaan off the stage. An arrest isn’t visible in the above video clips, but below is apparently footage of Popcaan being taken into police custody. The Jamaican Gleaner said this morning that althought Popcaan has been jailed, he has yet to be charged.
