The Tony Awards Continue

Despite the horrifying attack at Pulse, a well-known gay night club in Orlando, Fla., the Tony Awards continue tonight [Sunday, June 12] at 8 p.m. EST.

The biggest broadway award show is being held at the Beacon Theater in New York despite the tragedy that struck the nation this morning.

The organizers of the Tony Awards tweeted this morning, “Our hearts are heavy for the unimaginable tragedy that happened last night in Orlando… Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected. The Tony Awards dedicate tonight’s ceremony to them.”

The Tony Awards continues to tweet in an effort to keep the enthusiasm alive for tonight’s award show. According to CNN, there has been speculation about how the awards will be altered to acknowledge the attack, but there is no word exactly.

British TV show host, James Corden, is set to emcee the event. Corden won a Tony in 2012 for Best Actor in the play One Man, Two Guvnors.
