[Watch] Aesop Rock Makes First National Television Appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

As Aesop Rock continues his expansive trek across the United States in support his latest album, The Impossible Kid, the Portland, Oregon-based emcee made a special pit stop. Last night [Monday, June 13] Aesop, Rob Sonic and DJ Zone stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for their first national televised performance.

With indie rock gods Yo Lo Tango as their backing band, the trio delivered one of the best tracks on the album, “Dorks.” Admittedly anti-social (in fact, that’s essentially what “Dorks” is about), Aesop was undoubtedly a little nervous.

“Playing Colbert alongside Yo La Tengo was magical, nerve-wracking, exhilarating, weird, stressful, flattering, and awesome,” Aesop tells The Source. “Having such a respected band agree to play with me was unreal and I am extremely grateful for the experience. The entire thing is a giant build up and it’s all over in 3 minutes. Before I knew it we were done. Super fun though, and I appreciate the entire late show staff who treated us amazingly. ”
