The Baltimore Ravens are super stern on their beliefs when it comes to weed.
So stern that the team decided to let go one of its veteran players for supporting the plant. Eugene Monroe, 29, made headlines for creating an informational website supporting medicinal marijuana and opposing its ban in the NFL’s mandatory drug testing practices.

Yesterday [Wednesday, June 15] the Ravens responded to his actions by letting Monroe go. In an official statement they stated, “The Ravens have terminated the contract of veteran left tackle after injuries derailed his past two seasons. Rookie No. 6-overall pick Ronnie Stanley is in the driver’s seat for the starting job.”
Monroe currently has the highest base salary on the team, as well as the highest cap salary. While many players and fans were in defense of Monroe’s stance, that didn’t save him. After a tumultuous year from injuries, and a trade with the New York Giants, Monroe has found himself on the other side of the field.
However, Monroe is turning his lemons into lemonade as he plans to use his platform to educate people on the benefits of medical marijuana.
