Early Sunday morning, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Denard Robinson was involved in a rather peculiar and possibly deadly situation as he was found asleep at the wheel of his car while it was sinking into a retention pond. The incident occurred in Jacksonville, FL where police approached Robinson’s Chevy Impala at around 4:22 a.m. and discovered him at the wheel along with his female passenger, both of whom were asleep as the vehicle was sinking.

They were both immediately removed from the car and following an investigation, ESPN reported that Robinson’s car was totaled and there were no skid marks on the road to suggest that he tried to hit the brakes prior to his vehicle going into the water. Authorities stated that the former Michigan University standout was not impaired and therefore would not be charged with a DUI. The Jacksonville Jaguars released a statement in regards to the incident, saying that they are “aware that running back Denard Robinson was involved in a single-car accident over the weekend” and expressed that they are “thankful that nobody was injured.

A few days later, Robinson took to social media, issuing his own statement about the incident.
