A Look At Andy Murray’s Wimbledon Victory

Professional tennis player Andy Murray has struggled to obtain a win in the finals of Wimbledon for years. The drought has ended [Sunday, July 10] as he pulled out a victory over Milos Raonic. Proving to be a vital match for both players, it was Andy Murray who prevailed.

Winning the matchup  6-4, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2), he displayed beautiful play on Sunday. It was his 11th time being in the finals, but for the first time, he was the favorite. The ten other times proved to be a challenge for Murray; Novak Djokovic or Roger Federer always stood in his way to successfully complete his journey.

I’ve had some great moments here, but also some tough losses. The win feels extra special because of the tough losses… This is the most important tournament for me every year

Finally leaping over the odds to win, Murray achieves the ultimate joy factor. For 14-years straight, we have either seen Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, or Rafael Nadal in the Wimbledon finals. Raonic had a chance to become the youngest player to win the Wimbledon finals since a 24 year-old Djokovic won in 2011.

Murray admitted to being “nervous” before the match, but those nerves turned out to be a stroke of good luck, pulling off an amazing achievement.
