According to the Connecticut Post, Connecticut State Police have arrested a New England meteorologist on charges of child pornography.
It was Justin Goldstein, a 33-year old meteorologist with the local WTNH-TV, who was charged on one count of promoting a minor in an obscene performance and first-degree possession of child pornography.
Investigators initially executed the search warrant at Goldstein’s home, then moved on to WTNG’s station where Goldstein was located.
Beginning in June 2016, the investigation was first launched when videos of child pornography were downloaded from an Internet account that was believed to belong to Goldstein.
“We are deeply concerned by the allegations,” said WTNH-TV president and general manager Mark Higgins in a statement . “Until this is resolved, Justin Goldstein is suspended from his duties at WTNH.”
Among items in seized in the search were computers and computer equipment with files of the suspected child pornography on them.
Goldstein was transported to State Police Troop 1 in Bethany, where he was held on $200,000. He is scheduled to appear in court today [Thursday, July 14].
