The wait for a Drake project, or even a single, used to be a heavy wait. Since releasing his 2015 mixtape, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, Drake has been a tear with his music. Even a little before that time, he was in a zone of releasing loose-cut records for his fans to enjoy. Well, it looks like that time will be upon us soon.
During a Summer Sixteen tour stop in Kansas City, Drake announced to the crowd that he’s working on a new mixtape. “And I want you to protect yourselves and each other, so when I go to work on this new mixtape and I come back to Kansas City and I drop that s**t, I want to see every motherf***er boy!,” Drake said.
Zaytoven did say Gucci Mane and Drake have enough material to put together a mixtape, but it was never official until a recent interview. The two will be releasing an EP titled 6’ers. The title makes sense, considering Drake is from the 6 side of Toronto and Gucci Mane is from Zone 6 in Atlanta. Following the release of Views, Drake announced to a Toronto crowd that there won’t be long of a wait for new music, even though Views was less than a week old at the time.
Drake’s Views album has been sitting at the number one spot on the Billboard for 10 straight weeks now. Based on sales alone, it’s undoubtedly one of the hottest album’s of the year. Drake seems to be wasting zero time with his music. Perhaps his “What A Time To Be Alive” partner, Future, has something to do with the output of music, from a motivational standpoint.
