Legendary rocker Tom Petty who is best known as the lead of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, died on Monday at the age of 66 following a cardiac arrest episode.
Petty was in his home at the time of the cardiac arrest which occurred in the wee hours of the morning and was taken to UCLA Medical Center where he was held on life support until he died serenely at 8:40pm.
Petty is exalted in the Rock & Roll world for array of hits which include “American Girl,” “Free Fallin’,” and “I Won’t Back Down.”
With Hip-Hop currently being dominant in the music world, it was only right for the veterans of the culture to express their condolences to the now fallen rockstar legend. Chuck D, DJ Premier, Pete Rock Talib Kweli and many more took to social media to pay their respects.
