Performers at the Route 91 Harvest Festival React to Mass Shooting

What was supposed to be a night of good music, lip syncing, and dancing turned out to be one of the most deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history. Terrorist Stephen Paddock let off rounds of shots from the upper floor of the nearby Mandalay Resort & Casino into a crowd of about 22,000 concert-goers.

Headline artist Jason Aldean was rocking the crowd at the sold out Route 91 Harvest Festival, while violence disrupted his set. It took him a while to notice what was going on, but he immediately fled to safety with his band and family as soon as he noticed the disaster. Over 50 lives were lost, and at least 400 people were injured.

Dozens of other country artists performed throughout the weekend including, Eric Church, Sam Hunt and Maren Morris. The performers confirmed that they were safe and expressed their sorrow and prayers to those affected by this act of terror.

Jake Owen, who played the main stage before Aldean, tweeted: “Praying for everyone here in Vegas. I witnessed the most unimaginable event tonight. We are okay. Others arent. Please pray.”
