Kellogg’s will be changing the artwork on its Corn Pops cereal after a Twitter user pointed out its racially insensitive design Tuesday.
The artwork featured on the back of the cereal box shows cartoon Corn Pops running about a mall, shopping and playing in an arcade. Saladin Ahmed, a fantasy author and Marvel comic book writer, pointed out a single brown Corn Pop on the cereal box.
“Why is literally the only brown corn pop on the whole cereal box the janitor?” wrote Ahmed, tagging Kellogg’s. “This is teaching kids racism.”
Hours later, the company responded, offering an apology and saying, “The artwork is updated & will be in stores soon.”
