Offset might have become the world’s least favorite Migos member. Aside from the rumors of him cheating and having a sex tape on the market with a girl other than his fiance, Cardi‘s boo is now in the hot seat for a particular lyric that expressed homophobia.
On YFN Lucci’s new single, ‘Boss Life’ Offset raps, “I cannot vibe with queers.”
According to UK’s Independent, this is not the first time that Migos have made headlines for such remarks. If you remember, last year the rap group collectively made negative comments in an interview surrounding ILoveMakonnen’s coming out in an interview with Rolling Stone. The group later released a statement saying that they were misquoted and that they “love all people, gay or straight.”
Since the recent incident, social media has been dragging the rapper’s name through the mud. Many have called out Offset, noting his presence in the fashion world as well as the group’s hit single “Versace”. Artist MNEK tweeted,
“Offset saying he doesn’t vibe with queers while constantly wearing and PARADING clothes by gay designers is the REAL gag. He’s clowning himself???? was Gianni Versace not gay? this one you’re screaming versace versace versace, are you not vibing? lololol. All i’m saying is if you’re a homophobe say it with you chest.”
Others also questioned Offset’s relationship with rapper and fiance Cardi B; seeing as though she has identified as bisexual more than once and her sister is in an open same sex relationship. Offset made an attempt to clarify why he chose to use the word followed by an apology for causing any offense.
“When i wrote that i was thinking of words that could rhyme with the others (here, lear, solitaire, bear) and i saw this definition about her having a queer feeling she was being watched and it fit what i w as thinking about a stalker creepy paparazzi situation. To me that ‘queer’ i don’t mean someone who’s gay. I mean lame people who film you, post it and stalk you. Lingo that means strange or odd.”
