Beyoncé slayed Grammy weekend, as she usually does. Her outfits were said to snatch women’s edges, and of course the BeyHive saluted their queen with her show stopping outfits. Her outfits, however, weren’t just beautiful dresses that showed off Queen Bey’s curves, they came with a message.

Her stylist for the weekend was Marni Senofonte, who has styled the mother of three before, along with other celebrities like Lauryn Hill, Ciara, Diddy and many others. The theme in mind for the weekend was a tribute to the Black Panther party. At the Grammys, Beyoncé had a black panther clutch from fashion designer Judith Leiber. Her beret at the Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party was from NYC-based accessories designer Eugenia Kim.

This isn’t the first time the newly titled First Lady of Music by Clive Davis paid tribute to the Black Panthers. During Super Bowl 50 in 2016, Beyoncé gave a memorable half-time show with her dancers wearing berets with leather outfits as an honor to the Panthers party that was formulated 50 years ago. Her dancers also took a picture backstage with the slogan, “Justice 4 Mario Woods”. Mario Woods was killed by police officers in San Francisco, the host city of Super Bowl 50.

Beyoncé continues to show us you can be powerful, beautiful, sexy and still make a statement with what you wear.
