Meek Mill has proved that being locked behind bars won’t stop him from continuing his philanthropic efforts. On day nine of Colin Kaepernick’s 10 for 10 Million Dollar Pledge, the Philly rapper matched Kaepernick’s $10,000 donation, donating $10,000 to Philadelphia’s Youth Service Inc.
A combined $20,000, the generous gift to Youth Service Inc., whose focus is, “strengthening families, helping at-risk teens, and promoting child safety,” will go towards emergency rent assistance, which covers first and last month’s rent and eviction support; an education resource center, that will provide laptops and work stations for youth groups to assist with school projects, resume development, and job searches; emergency transportation and employment support, which provides access to emergency transportation fund for youth in need-includes job interviews and getting to work; and emergency clothing for job interviews, work, and seasonal assistance.
In an Instagram post by Kaepernick, he shares that he’s spoken to Meek over the phone on several occasions, and during one of their conversations, the rapper pledged his donation. Meek Mill joins Joey Bada$$, Nick Cannon, Chris Brown, Jhene Aiko, T.I., Serena Williams, Snoop Dogg, Steph Curry, Jesse Williams, and Kevin Durant, who have all pitched in for the cause.
