Just a couple of weeks before the grand opening of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, a very select group of media influencers were chartered on a G5 jet to Orlando, Florida for an exclusive sneak-peek into the Hard Rock International Rock Vault.
The once-in-a-lifetime tour showcased the rarest memorabilia in the Atlantic City Collection to be transported to New Jersey for the grand opening of the newest Hard Rock Hotel.
Following an opulent private jet ride and gourmet lunch, Music and Memorabilia Historian, Jeff Nolan led the Rock Vault Tour and gave a knowledgable yet entertaining first look at the collection headed to Atlantic City. “There are 80,000 pieces in total in our vault and at some point, every piece has gone through our warehouse.”
Inside the esteemed vault, Director of Design and Memorabilia, Giovanni Taliaferro, walked through what seemed to be an endless amount of items from legendary musicians, pop singers and icons. “Every single piece that is in our collection we consider priceless, these are treasures to us… We pride ourself in the authenticity of our collections, Taliaferro contended.
From Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes’ colorful hat to Michael Jaclson’s original jacket from his ‘Beat It’ video, Nolan guided us with a story about each nostalgic item. Highlights included: Michael Jackson’s red leather jacket from his ‘Beat It; video, James Brown’s performance crown, handwritten lyrics from Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson’s Hat and his infamous sequined glove.
Checks written out by Tupac Shakur to himself, Nicki Minaj’s sneakers from The Anacona video and even the sweater Michael Jackson wore in his ‘Scream” video were carefully marked, logged and. easy to find .
