This year’s Hot For The Holidays concert was dedicated to the R&B lovers. The annual Holiday concert featured performances from Wale, Khalid, Layton Greene and The Bonfyre. You can see that fans received a Christmas gift last night from some of the best and rising stars in Hip-Hop & R&B.
The Bonfyre opened the show with songs from her Ready To Love EP, including the fan-favorite, “Automatic.” The Chicopee, MS native is currently signed to LA Reid’s Hitco label. Her 6lack assisted single “U Say” continues to break ground on a number of R&B playlist streaming services. The Bonfyre ended her set with her latest single as the crowd sung along.
Layton Greene (don’t forget the “e” at the end of Greene) was met with a warm reception. The first lady of R&B for Quality Control Music is enjoying the success of her single, “Alone.” The single peaked at number one at Urban Radio earlier this month. Layton Greene released her first full-length project, Tell Ya Story back in September.
Wale opened his performance with a Jodeci medley and some of his best songs, including “That Way,” “Lotus Flower Bomb,” and “The Matrimony.”
“When you talk about songs of the decade, this one is one of those,” he says before he performs “Bad.”
The DMV rapper dropped Wow…. That’s Crazy back in October. The album’s intro, “Sue Me,” is a standout track. Wale captivated the King Theatre audience with the soulful track, which features vocals from Kelly Price. The performance warranted a standing ovation, and that is what Wale received. He closed his set with his latest hit “On Chill.”
Khalid closed the show as the Hot For The Holidays headliner. He was accompanied by his talent dancers. Since 2017, Khalid has released soulful, catchy tunes such as “Location,” “Young Dumb & Broke” and “Talk.” The later is nominated for Record of The Year at the 62 Grammy Awards.
