Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union-Wade and Zaya Wade attended the 2020 Truth Awards over the weekend, which was also Zaya’s first red carpet appearance. To show his excitement and support for Zaya, Wade shared a photo of Zaya looking amazing in a green tux jacket with some black pants with a hot pink stripe along the front with a matching pink clutch, followed by an introduction.
“Everyone allow her to re-introduce herself her name is Zaya Wade! Last night was Zaya’s first red carpet and we couldn’t have been prouder of how she handled the questions that were asked of her, the former Miami Heat player wrote. “She has emerged as one of the young faces and voices for the LGBTQ + community”

As we previously reported Wade stopped the Ellen Show to proudly talk about his 12-year-old’s transition.
His son, born Zion, wants to now be referred to as Zaya using the pronouns she/her.
“So once Zaya, our 12-year-old, came home first Zion, I don’t know if everyone knows, originally named Zion, born as a boy came home and said, ‘Hey, I want to talk to you guys. I think going forward I’m ready to live my truth. I want to be referenced as she and her, I would love for you guys to call me Zaya.’”
