SOURCE SPORTS: Former Jets Coach Rex Ryan Slams Amari Cooper As ‘Disappearing Act’ and ‘Turd’

The Dallas Cowboys have given wide receiver Amari Cooper a lucrative new contract and that pisses Rex Ryan off.

Talking about the 5-year $100 million extensions the Cowboys offered Cooper, Ryan held nothing back. The former New York Jets and Buffalo Bills coach said Friday that there’s “no way in hell” he would have given Cooper that deal.

He then went further calling Cooper a “disappearing act” and a “turd” during an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up.

“I wouldn’t have paid this guy,” Rex said on ESPN’s “Get Up!” Friday. “To me, this is the biggest disappearing act in the National Football League. He doesn’t show up on the road … when the competition’s good — when he’s against the top corners, that guy disappears.

“He doesn’t love football! Hell with it, he stops his routes, he does all this!”

Cooper recorded 79 receptions for 1,189 yards and eight touchdowns in 2019. He also made just 27 catches for 320 yards in eight road games.

Many feel that the wideout’s inability to make a constant impact doesn’t justify the payout amount and the long-term standing of the contract. With Dak Prescott being the more consistent of the two, many are surprised at the deal Cooper has been offered.

However, he exploded post-Raiders trade in 2018 with 1,189 yards and eight touchdowns last season.
