Minneapolis mayor, Jacob Frey has been under a lot of fire after the recent events revolving around forty-six-year-old George Floyd’s death.
His Instagram has been flooded with comments by angry citizens who demand that the mayor defund the police. President Trump has publicly humiliated Mayor Frey after taking his thoughts on how Frey handled the recent events to his twitter account.
“I can’t stand back and watch this happen to a great American City, Minneapolis. A total lack of leadership. Either the very weak Radical Left Mayor, Jacob Frey, get his act together and bring the City under control, or I will send in the National Guard & get the job done right,” the tweet read.
When a reporter read the comments to the Mayor, he shook his head and responded, “Let me say this. Weakness is refusing to take responsibility for your own actions. Weakness is pointing your finger at somebody else at a time of crisis. Donald Trump knows nothing about the strength of Minneapolis. We are strong as hell. This is a difficult time, yes, but you better be damn sure that we’re going to get through this.”
Over the weekend, protestors had some questions to ask the Mayor after realizing that he has yet to commit to defunding the police. In a clip that surfaced the internet, you can hear protestors booing Mayor Frey which led him to take the walk of shame.
50 Cent caught wind of the viral video and posted it to his Instagram account with the caption, “That’s the Mayor, Damn they did him dirty. I know he went home and cried like a baby.”
Since the shameful moment, Minneapolis city council members, Andrea Jenkins and Lisa Bender have announced that they will move forward with dismantling the city’s police department and began to move towards a community-led public safety model.
