Most music artists, especially those new in the industry, avoid taking long breaks, as it may make all their efforts in promoting themselves more difficult. If they haven’t solidified their reputation yet, then inactivity may cause their listeners to forget about them. However, for the SimpkinsTwins, Addison and Blake Simpkins, even a 3-year-long break could not stop them and their music from standing out.
Ever since they were young, the SimpkinsTwins have always been passionate about music. This love became stronger when their mother, Paula, enrolled them in violin lessons when they were six. However, their hearts lie more in hip-hop, so when they decided to pursue a career in the music industry, they went after that genre.
They lived in a small town in central New Jersey. While they also loved their neighborhood, they couldn’t ignore the fact that hip-hop isn’t really a big thing there. This meant that if they wanted to seriously go after their passion, living in a town with a flourishing music industry would be better for them. It was then that they moved to Montclair and focused on releasing songs.
The twins officially started their career as musicians in December 2018 when they released their first extended play, “Outta Space”, with a total of seven tracks. It includes “Blast Off”, “Count It Up”, “Enemies”, “Interstate”, “Lambo Dreams”, “MIA”, and “Seven Days”. However, despite the success, it wasn’t until three years after the EP’s release that the SimpkinsTwins published their new single “Never Stop” in May 2021.
In fact, the track served as the twins’ proof of their commitment to their dream. When the pandemic struck the world, they lost hope that things would ever get back to normal. However, they still didn’t want to give up on becoming music artists. By releasing a new single despite all the challenges brought by COVID-19, they proved to themselves that they could overcome any obstacles.
Much to the delight of the SimpkinsTwins, “Never Stop” metphenomenal success in one of the leading music streaming platforms worldwide, Spotify. In fact, the track reached more than 76,000 streams after only one month of its release. It also boosted their reputation as artists and, in turn, brought more people to their fanbase.
Their Spotify followers rose to thousands, and their monthly listeners have reached over 50,000. “Outta Space” caught the attention of their growing fanbase, and the EP achieved more than half a million total plays on the platform. This was also when they began attracting more and more attention on social media, specifically Facebook and Instagram.
The support that they have received after releasing their new single went beyond their expectations. This has once again rekindled the fire in their love for music. It also motivated them to continue this newfound momentum by producing more tracks for their fans. The best way for the SimpkinsTwins to give back for the support they received is by continuing to create their kind of music.
