Millyz On Blanco 6, Defining Success In Music, Signing To Jadakiss + More

The inevitable growth shown through the last half decade has launched the Cambridge, MA native into a new stratosphere – a place where his talent coexists with proper exposure. Millyz states that “mastering his sound” is how he intended to display his growth from project to project.

“On Blanco 5, I catered to my sound. On Blanco 6, I really mastered it, says the “Grenadine,” rapper.

Blanco 6 features Dave East, G Herbo, Albee Al, Jadakiss and more. The later has been a mentor to Millyz over the years and eventually signed the “Moon Roof” rapper to his label.

According to Millyz, Ruff Ryders A&R and Jadakiss’ close friend, Ignatius “Icepick Jay” Jackson, who passed away in 2017, often advocated to The LOX rapper of Millyz greatness. The gesture led to Millyz’s signing, along with a number of collaborations including the Blanco 6 approved, “Moon Roof.”

“A lot of people get down with a rapper and they don’t understand… This rapper is not here to do everything for you,” he says on his business relationship with Jadakiss. “Your CEO as an artist is not here to do everything for you. Go out, hit the ground running and get some motion. If you have a self-sufficient mindset, sign to an artist. You’re probably be straight, if they’re solid like [Jada]Kiss.” Prior to the release of Blanco 6, Jadakiss gifted Millyz with an iced-out custom chain made by celebrity NYC-based jeweler, Mazza.

Millyz is gearing up to take Blanco 6 on the road for the rest of the month. The tour began on May 5th in Boston with cameos from Dave East, Paul Wall and more.

“It all goes back to the shows,” says Millyz. “That’s what lets you know if the music is really connecting.”
