Chris Rock to Reprise His Voice in Reimagined Everybody Hates Chris Animated Series

Comedian, actor and producer, Chris Rock will reprise his role as narrator in the new animated series “Everybody Still Hates Chris,” based on the original UPN/CW hit sitcom “Everybody Hates Chris.” Ya’ll remember that one right? It was a pretty big show and definitely paved the way for a brand of comedy that incorporated real life experiences of super star talents. IYKYK, The Rock has one of those shows, for comparative purposes.

The reimagined series is set to premiere on Comedy Central later this year. Rock will narrate the show as his adult self, reflecting on his childhood.

Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold will return as Chris’ parents, Julius and Rochelle.

Tim Johnson Jr. will voice young Chris, while Ozioma Akagha and Terrence Little Gardenhigh will voice his younger siblings, Tonya and Drew. Gunnar Sizemore will play Greg, Chris’ friend. Rock expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I’m very excited to introduce the world to another funny side of my childhood.”

Showrunner Sanjay Shah added, “I wanted this job to get free tickets to a Chris Rock stand-up show, but we ended up making something we’re proud of that is true to the original series we all loved.”

Produced by Eye Animation Productions, the show entered development in 2021 and was ordered by Comedy Central in 2022. Rock, alongside Shah and others, will serve as executive producers.
