As one fan put it, the Yanks will put a beating on the Mets one way or another.
Earlier this week, the Mets and Yankees took their NYC two-game “Subway Series” Uptown to the Bronx, and the battle off the field got just as entertaining as the battle on the diamond when Yankees and Mets fans began brawling in the rotunda of Yankee Stadium, leaving several attendees lumped and bruised in the battle royale-esque scuffle.
About six people, including two women, were fighting it out when the video showed a Yankees fan with no shirt catching a Mets fan with a strong hook, sending him to the ground. Security eventually made it to the skirmish, but not before the embarrassed Mets fan tried to redeem himself by taking on another Yankees fan until the fire finally fizzled.
Surprisingly, the NYPD said that no arrests were made, so besides a few bumps and bruises, everyone made it home okay except for the Yankees, who were edged by the Amazins 3-2 on Tuesday and spanked by them 12-3 on Wednesday. The two BX wins sealed their sweep, leaving them the reigning Kings of Queens.
The 2024 Subway Series was the first time the Mets swept the series since 2013.
