Roberta Flack’s legendary career earned her a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame back in 1999, but according to reports, the honor was never publicly unveiled.
Ana Martinez, a representative for the Walk of Fame, told TMZ that Flack never scheduled a date for the ceremony. However, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce now hopes that her family will step in to arrange a posthumous unveiling.
If her family does reach out, they will have to wait until at least 2026, as all available dates for 2025 are already booked.
Flack isn’t the only music icon to experience this delay—Whitney Houston also received approval for a star, but never finalized a date for her unveiling.
Flack passed away at the age of 88, leaving behind an extraordinary musical legacy that took off in the 1970s with timeless hits like “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” and “Killing Me Softly.” While her contributions to music have been widely recognized, fans now hope her Walk of Fame star will finally receive the public unveiling it deserves.
