Stephen Curry & Marshawn Lynch Team Up for Mac Dre Documentary

Bay Area culture is about to take center stage as basketball superstar Stephen Curry and NFL legend Marshawn “Beastmode” Lynch join forces to produce a documentary on the life and legacy of Mac Dre. The film, currently titled the Untitled Mac Dre Documentary, will be a tribute to the Vallejo rapper who played a pivotal role in the rise of the Hyphy movement and left an undeniable impact on hip-hop.

Curry’s Unanimous Media and Lynch’s Beastmode Productions are collaborating with Mac Dre’s mother, Wanda Salvatto, to share an intimate look at her son’s journey, his influence, and the movement he helped create.

A Story That Needs to Be Told

The documentary will explore the life of Andre “Mac Dre” Hicks, chronicling his early days in Vallejo, his groundbreaking contributions to independent hip-hop, and the circumstances surrounding his untimely passing. Mac Dre’s legacy continues to inspire artists and fans alike, making this project an essential look at the culture he helped shape.

“We’re excited to join forces with Marshawn Lynch and Beastmode Productions to tell the story of Mac Dre, a cultural and Bay Area icon whose creativity knows no bounds,” said Stephen Curry and Erick Peyton, co-founders of Unanimous Media. “Alongside his mother, Wanda, we’ve assembled a group of creatives who are honored to have the opportunity to tell Mac Dre’s life story for fans and the Bay Area community alike.”

For Marshawn Lynch, this project is about more than just entertainment—it’s about preserving and celebrating Bay Area history.

“We at Beastmode Productions are thrilled to partner with Unanimous Media to produce and celebrate the extraordinary life of Mac Dre,” said Diaunte Thompson, co-founder of Beastmode Productions. “He is not only a Bay Area icon but also a trailblazing independent hip-hop pioneer whose influence resonates globally. This project is more than just a film; it’s our responsibility and duty to honor Mac Dre’s legacy. Partnering with his mother, Ms. Wanda, is an incredible honor, and we are dedicated to executing her vision with the utmost respect and care.”

The Power Behind the Project

The film will be directed by Michelle Parker, with a production team that includes:

  • Stephen Curry and Erick Peyton of Unanimous Media
  • Marshawn Lynch, Bryon Sheng, and Diaunte Thompson of Beastmode Productions
  • Wanda Salvatto, Mac Dre’s mother, as a key creative partner

By bringing together two of the Bay Area’s biggest sports icons, an accomplished filmmaker, and Mac Dre’s own family, the project promises to be an authentic and impactful tribute to one of hip-hop’s most unique voices.

A Lasting Legacy

Mac Dre’s influence on hip-hop extends far beyond music. His independent spirit, Thizz Nation movement, and the unmistakable energy of Hyphy culture have inspired generations of artists. His style and sound live on in the work of E-40, G-Eazy, P-Lo, and many others who continue to push Bay Area hip-hop forward.

For longtime fans and those just discovering Mac Dre’s legacy, this documentary will serve as both a celebration and a history lesson—an acknowledgment of an artist whose presence is still felt today.

With Curry and Lynch leading the charge, this project is more than just another hip-hop documentary—it’s a moment for the Bay Area to tell its own story.
