50 Cent has once again taken a playful swipe at Floyd Mayweather, this time in response to Conor McGregor’s surprising announcement that he is running for President of Ireland. The rapper couldn’t resist poking fun at Mayweather’s literacy struggles, posting a cheeky comment on Instagram about the news.
50 just enjoys this type of thing.
“See what happens when you can read champ, the shit just matters,” 50 Cent wrote, referencing McGregor’s unexpected foray into politics.
McGregor, the UFC superstar, revealed his presidential ambitions shortly after visiting Donald Trump at the White House for St. Patrick’s Day. The Dublin native outlined a controversial anti-immigration platform, claiming that “Ireland is at the cusp of potentially losing its Irishness.” His comments were quickly criticized by current Irish President Micheál Martin.
As you know, this isn’t the first time 50 Cent has targeted Mayweather in recent weeks. Last month, the boxing legend voiced his strong support for Donald Trump during an appearance on the Fox Business show Making Money with Charles Payne.
“When we had Trump before, we didn’t appreciate him. But I think Trump is a great president, one of the — actually he’s the best president. In my eyes, he’s the best president we ever had,” Mayweather said.
What’s more, he continued, “Great business, great businessman, and that’s what it’s about. Trump has done an amazing job and a lot of people around America are upset. But no matter who goes in the White House, we’re always upset. I think Trump is the man for the job. He’s the best president in my eyes.”
Mayweather’s comments didn’t sit well with 50 Cent, who fired back on Instagram with a humorous jab.
“YO you know how, when you’re in school and a kid eats the crayons. Now you see what happens when they grow up. Spell BEST PRESIDENT champ! LOL,” the rapper quipped.
Get this, 50 Cent himself has previously expressed support for Trump. In 2020, he criticized Joe Biden’s proposed tax policy on social media, writing, “WHAT THE FUCK! (VOTE For TRUMP) IM OUT. FUCK NEW YORK The KNICKS never win anyway. I don’t care Trump doesn’t like black people 62% are you out of ya fucking mind.”
As McGregor’s political ambitions and Mayweather’s Trump endorsement continue to make headlines, 50 Cent’s witty commentary adds another layer of entertainment to the ongoing saga.
