Kodak Black recently addressed concerns from fans regarding his well-being after being compared to the late DMX, who passed away in 2021 following a heart attack linked to a drug overdose. During an Instagram Live session over the weekend, a viewer expressed worry about the rapper’s substance use, drawing parallels to the iconic Ruff Ryders artist.
“Man, shut the [expletive] up. Definitely ain’t going out like DMX,” Kodak responded. “He’s a legend, though. I’d rather go out like DMX than… [laughs] What? Is you dumb? I do be feeling like DMX, though, a lot of the time.”
Kodak has previously been open about his struggles, admitting last November that he had relapsed after exhibiting increasingly erratic behavior, which had raised concerns among supporters.
During a separate live stream at a football game, he addressed speculation about his sobriety, stating, “I ain’t sober. Do I look sober? I’m never sober, for what? Look at this money, look at all this cash. Sober for what? I’m too young to die sober.”
His comments have reignited conversations about substance use in the music industry, particularly among artists who have publicly battled addiction.
