Jadakiss Remembers Legendary Lox vs. Dipset Verzuz: ‘I Was Outta My Mind That Day’

Let’s take a trip down memory lane. Or more like infamous lane. Jadakiss is still riding high off one of the most iconic moments in modern Hip-Hop history—the unforgettable Verzuz clash between The Lox and Dipset. And in a recent sit-down with Fat Joe on their Joe and Jada podcast, the Yonkers MC gave fans a deeper look into his mindset during the explosive battle.

Get this, on the episode, which featured special guest and MLB star Jazz Chisholm Jr., turned nostalgic as Fat Joe recalled watching the battle unfold live.

“Jada at the Verzuz, I thought he took shots at me,” Joe joked. “I’m in the crowd like, yo Jada, what’s going on? Do I gotta rent out this building?… Jada you was getting at Cam [Cam’Ron]. What you was thinking when you were taking shots?”

Jadakiss didn’t hold back on his explanation, revealing he was completely locked in:

“I was out of my mind that day. I wasn’t on anything, but the zone I was in was adderal,” he said. “It was a very different space that I was in that day. I’d never been that way before.”

When Chisholm asked if the showdown was personal, Jada kept it real.

“Nah, not really,” he responded. “Those is our brothers. It was a moment. Like a sports moment, it was a Hip-Hop moment.”

Okay, taking ya’ll back, the 2021 Verzuz battle between The Lox and Dipset was more than just a concert—it was a culture-shifting event that reminded the world of the power of bars, breath control, and unshakable group chemistry. While Dipset stumbled through their set, The Lox brought raw energy, tight coordination, and mic skills that had the internet talking for weeks.

“You can’t fake chemistry man,” Sheek Louch said at the time, as the group’s unity outshined the competition.

The victory had a real-world impact for Jadakiss. In a 2022 interview with Complex, he opened up about how the Verzuz battle changed the trajectory of his business.

“My numbers went up for hostings and walkthroughs, for shows, and TV cameos. Just in general my numbers went up,” he shared. “It also showed Def Jam that they got to do the right thing [and] restructure my contract. It really showed the world my true worth, what I can do.”

Here’s that moment. Ah, the pandemic. What a time to be alive.
