SOURCE SPORTS: Pittsburgh Pirates To Pay Tribute To Mac Miller With Bobblehead Night In July

The Pittsburgh Pirates will pay tribute to late hometown hero and beloved rapper Mac Miller with a special bobblehead giveaway on July 19 at PNC Park. Fans attending the game that night will receive a limited-edition bobblehead of Miller donning a Pirates jersey with the number “412” — a nod to the Pittsburgh area code he proudly represented throughout his life and career.

Mac Miller, born Malcolm McCormick, rose from Pittsburgh’s underground scene to become a cultural icon and chart-topping artist. He passed away in 2018 at just 26 years old, but his legacy remains deeply rooted in the city that shaped him.

Miller signed his first major record deal with Pittsburgh-based indie label Rostrum Records in 2010. His debut studio album, Blue Slide Park, dropped in November 2011 and made history by debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — the first independently distributed debut album to achieve that since Tha Dogg Pound’s Dogg Food in 1995.

In 2013, Miller launched his own imprint, REMember Music, and later inked a $10 million deal with Warner Bros. Records. His second album, Watching Movies with the Sound Off, further showcased his evolving artistry and deeper sound.

With hits like “Frick Park Market” and the widely acclaimed K.I.D.S mixtape, Miller built a devoted fanbase. He remained a close friend and collaborator of fellow Pittsburgh native Wiz Khalifa, and both artists put their city on the national map in new ways.

This summer’s bobblehead night is more than just a giveaway — it’s a hometown salute to an artist who brought pride to Pittsburgh and left an unforgettable mark on music and culture.
