Today, we celebrate the 50th birthday of one of Hip Hop and Soul’s most unmistakable voices; CeeLo Green. As a core member of Atlanta’s legendary Dungeon Family collective, CeeLo first made waves as part of Goodie Mob, delivering socially conscious rhymes and Southern wisdom on classic albums like Soul Food and Still Standing. His gritty vocals and introspective lyrics helped define the sound of Southern Hip Hop in the mid-90s.
Beyond the Mob, CeeLo carved out his own lane with a genre-bending solo career, and later as one half of the dynamic duo Gnarls Barkley, where he gave the world the smash hit “Crazy”—a record that broke boundaries and earned Grammy gold. Known for his fearless creativity, flamboyant style, and soulful delivery, CeeLo has remained a powerful and unpredictable force in music for over three decades.
Whether it’s lacing hooks with fire, delivering sermons in rhyme, or taking the stage with his unmistakable presence, CeeLo Green continues to represent artistry in its rawest form.
