Fat Joe has built a reputation for telling colorful stories during interviews, and in the latest episode of his new podcast Joe and Jada with Jadakiss, he dives into one that’s raising eyebrows, claiming he once bailed out pop superstar Justin Bieber during his infamous 2014 Miami arrest for DUI and reckless driving.
While the incident itself was well-publicized at the time, Fat Joe adds a surprising personal twist. Reminiscing with Jadakiss, he recalls his close connection with Bieber when the singer lived in Miami. “Let me tell you something, you know who used to talk to me all the time? Justin Bieber,” Joe begins. “Justin gets arrested, just wildin’ out in Miami. Raul—rest in peace—calls me and says, ‘Yo, they need someone to bail out Justin.’ It wasn’t about the money, just a few hundred bucks, maybe a thousand. We used Rich Playa’s girl to post bail. So we bail him out—for $100.”
Joe quickly pauses to clarify that he’s not sharing the story for clout. But things take a turn when he recalls a moment that put a strain on their friendship. “After that, Justin started saying he was a gangster,” Joe explains. “I told him, ‘Nah, man. We don’t want you to be gangster. We want you singing Baby, Baby. We don’t want you locked up or on the news—we want you winning. My daughter idolizes you. We all love you.’ But he felt like I killed the vibe, and that kind of messed up our relationship.”
While Joe insists Bieber’s bail was a mere $100, public records show it was $2,500, a fact-check that echoes past scrutiny over the rapper’s storytelling. “You gotta take everything Joe says with a grain of salt,” one X user wrote under a viral clip shared by @ItsaVibe. “LOL, Justin probably never even said that.”
Naturally, the story stirred a range of reactions online. “All this man does is lie,” one user tweeted. Another chimed in sarcastically, “I’ll take things that didn’t happen for 300.” Others clowned the tale entirely, poking fun at Joe’s image. “Imagine believing anything from a man with a fake beard,” tweeted one critic. “Not I.”
One particularly harsh tweet aimed the podcast itself, saying, “@fatjoe is the type of man to take a sh*t in a public restroom while wearing expensive @Versace clothes. Man, f**k that weak azz podcast with Fat H0E & @Therealkiss.”
As of now, Justin Bieber has not responded to the viral claims. The pop star has recently been making headlines for ongoing legal tensions with former manager Scooter Braun and ongoing public speculation surrounding his relationship with wife Hailey Bieber.
