Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins Drops EP to Mark Hall of Fame Milestone

Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins is celebrating a career-defining achievement in the most meaningful way he knows how through music. Just days after being officially inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the iconic producer released Darkchild Sessions, a three-track live EP that reintroduces some of his most legendary work with a fresh spiritual twist.

Exclusively released on Apple Music through his label Alienz Alive, the project was recorded live in Nashville and showcases a fusion of legacy and faith. It offers new interpretations of classic records by tapping into the talents of Jon Keith, Hulvey, and nobigdyl., three artists pushing the boundaries of hip hop and R&B while staying grounded in purpose.

Tracks like Toni Braxton’s “He Wasn’t Man Enough,” Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine,” and Ray J’s “One Wish” get bold revivals. The new versions are not simply covers but heartfelt transformations that blend emotional depth with thoughtful lyrics rooted in spiritual consciousness.

“These songs shaped an era,” Jerkins said. “Now this new generation carries the torch with purpose. To celebrate this Hall of Fame moment through these voices, in partnership with Apple Music Nashville, is a full-circle blessing.”

For Jerkins, this EP is far more than a nod to his past hits. It is a celebration of evolution, a moment of reflection, and a platform for rising artists who create from a place of faith. The live recording format adds an extra layer of authenticity, spotlighting the raw vocal strength and emotional storytelling that has defined Jerkins’ sound for more than two decades.
