Bronx rap legend Fat Joe claims he’s lost out on nearly $10 million in business opportunities due to what he describes as a calculated extortion plot involving his former hypeman, Terrance Dixon, and Dixon’s attorney, Tyrone Blackburn. According to newly filed legal documents, the pair allegedly attempted to smear Joe’s name by falsely accusing him of rape and sex trafficking involving underage girls.
The lawsuit, filed by Joe, asserts that the damaging accusations immediately began to impact his career. He claims he was pulled from three major primetime television appearances and saw his Joe & Jada podcast suffer major sponsorship losses, totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. In addition, national retailers reportedly backed out of negotiations to carry products from Joe’s grooming line, Rewind It.
Among the biggest losses, Joe cites a $7 million deal with a major retailer that collapsed following the public allegations. The lawsuit estimates that the fallout from the claims may have cost him $10 million in total. As a result, Joe is seeking at least $15 million in damages.
Joe took to social media to deny the allegations and address the situation in an emotional post. “I’ve been tested the last few months…I’ve lost my big brother, my father, my mother and now I’m fighting against these disgusting lies. But please know I will not break and I will NEVER back down,” he wrote.
He also reflected on his fallout with Dixon, who was fired from Joe’s camp in 2019. “If you get fired for doing something wrong, just take the L and live with it. But instead, they plot on your downfall… They decide to go after one of the things you value the most; your reputation.”
Fat Joe made it clear that he has no intention of letting the matter go unchecked, stating he and his family are the ones bearing the brunt of the consequences from what he calls a “campaign of lies.”
