Tension flared online this week after Masika Kalysha publicly criticized Brittany Renner for what she believes was a disingenuous display of faith. The Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood alum did not hold back, accusing Renner of using Islam as a temporary persona tied to her previous relationship with rapper Kevin Gates.
Masika’s comments surfaced while she was commenting on a recent altercation from Basketball Wives LA involving Jackie and Chantel Christie. Shifting gears, she took a jab at Renner in a follow-up post, writing, “Since we’re on the topic… the way Britney played with them peoples religion to become that man’s other wife is crazy. He took off and she took off them peoples clothes.”
Renner initially announced her conversion to Islam publicly in January 2025, having converted back in August 2024. But after her breakup with Kevin Gates, she was seen without her hijab as of June, prompting questions from fans and critics alike.
Clapping back at the criticism, Renner brought up Masika’s past headlines, writing, “Says BM number 3 who faked a kidnapping to promote their irrelevant OF. Since we’re on the topic… religion is not exclusive, I never signed up to be one of several, people are allowed to change their minds, and plenty of relationships are meant to be but not meant to last. Bye 40 and fried!”
Masika fired back by clarifying that the alleged kidnapping incident was part of a TV show centered on sex trafficking awareness. She also doubled down on her stance toward Renner’s spiritual claims, posting, “It’s crazy because I was defending your disgraceful self when people KNEW you was fakin religion for D***.”
