Chris Rock Taps Daniel Kaluuya, Rosalind Eleazar and More for A24 Directorial Debut

Chris Rock is stepping back behind the camera for his first feature with A24, and the cast is already packing serious star power. Academy Award winner Daniel Kaluuya has officially joined the lineup, alongside Rosalind Eleazar, Anna Kendrick, and Adam Driver. Rock is not only directing but also writing and appearing in the film himself.

Eleazar is set to lead as Misty Green, a once-promising actress whose career has unraveled. According to Deadline, Misty is “a gifted actress with a derailed career until someone from her past offers her a chance at a comeback.” That’s the only confirmed character detail so far, as roles for Kaluuya, Kendrick, Driver, and Rock remain under wraps.

The untitled film has been quietly gaining momentum. Back in 2024, it was in development under MACRO, Confluential, and Neon, and carried the working title Misty Greene. At that time, insiders described it as a sharp and timely look at modern Hollywood through the lens of fame, failure, and second chances.

Early summaries hinted at a storyline centered around Misty and a complicated reunion with a director named Jordan, played by Rock. Once close but now strained, their shared past becomes a roadblock to what could be her big return to the spotlight.

Production is currently underway in Los Angeles.

This is great since there has been very little production going on in Tinsel Town lately.

Rock is producing the film alongside Peter Rice and David Worthen Brooks. Nelson George, Shaum Sengupta, and Miles Alva are on board as executive producers.

With a cast this stacked and Rock aiming to make his mark as a director, this A24 project is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about films on the horizon.
