Kid Cudi Speaks On Why He Chose To Testify: “I hated every minute of it”

Well, it’s about time we heard from Kid Cudi, who has finally broken his silence on taking the stand in the somewhat ongoing trial involving Sean “Diddy” Combs. On May 22, 2025, the rapper appeared in a Manhattan courtroom where he described a string of troubling events from 2011 and 2012 that he claims were the result of Combs retaliating over Cudi’s brief romance with singer Cassie Ventura, Combs’ former partner.

In case you missed it, in his highly publicized testimony, Cudi recounted a December 2011 incident in Los Angeles. At the time, while he was dating Ventura, Cudi said Combs allegedly forced his way into his home. According to Cudi, his dog was shut inside a bathroom, and wrapped Christmas presents meant for his family were torn open.

In case you missed it, Cudi told the court that he called Combs during the break-in and was met with the response, “I am here waiting for you.” By the time Cudi returned home, police were already on site, Combs had left, security cameras had been tampered with, and his dog appeared shaken.

After his court appearance, Cudi addressed the experience during an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast. “I hated every minute of it,” he admitted. The rapper went on to explain, “I did not want to do it, but then I thought about when I was up there I’m here to support Cassie.” He added, “Cassie is my friend, and I love her and I want to see her do well.”
