Nigel Sylvester Foundation and JOOPITER Launch “Pedal Forward” Artist Bike Auction

The Nigel Sylvester Foundation, in collaboration with Pharrell Williams’ auction platform JOOPITER, has officially launched the “Pedal Forward” artist bike auction. The online charity auction, which runs from September 16 to September 25, features four custom BMX bikes painted by top contemporary artists to support youth mental health.

The auction offers a rare chance to own a unique piece of functional art while making a meaningful impact on the escalating youth mental health crisis. Each bike is a collaborative masterpiece, blending the creative vision of renowned artists Futura, Sue Tsai, and Mcflyy & Chelsea B with a shared commitment to philanthropy.

Art for a Cause

The proceeds from the auction will directly support the Nigel Sylvester Foundation’s “Switching Gears” program. Launched in 2023, this six-week initiative uses biking as a tool for empowerment, resilience, and wellness for middle and high school students. The program addresses the mental health crisis among young people, noting a 2022 CDC report that found one in four students in this age group experience mental illness. The program’s goal is to provide a positive path for personal growth by teaching students biking basics and highlighting the mental and physical benefits of cycling.

The bikes will be on view at Pharrell Williams’ Billionaire Boys Club flagship store in SoHo during the online auction. All lots can also be viewed now on the auction platform.

“The Pedal Forward auction is a culmination of art, community, and purpose,” said Nigel Sylvester. “Each bike represents a unique journey, and we are so grateful to the artists who contributed their talent to this cause. Their support will allow us to continue providing young people with the tools to navigate life’s challenges and discover the power of the bike.”

The Nigel Sylvester Foundation was established in 2021 with the mission to use biking as a catalyst for positive change.
