You know they had to do it for ya.
Johnny Manziel has finally been picked in the 2014 NFL Draft, as The Cleveland Browns have selected the electric young quarterback in the 1st round with the 22nd pick.
Coming out of college (Texas A&M), Johnny Manziel was probably the most covered, controversial and hyped NFL prospect since Tim Tebow left Florida for the NFL Draft in 2010. He’s become somewhat of a pop culture icon, as Drake and his OVO crew have championed his persona (to the extent that there is now OVO merchandise available for purchase), and despite his sometimes questionable off-the-field actions, there’s no denying his sheer talent, which was put on display during the NFL Combine and Pro Day.
Still, many people were unsure as to where Manziel would be drafted, and how far he would fall. It was very similar to the 2005 NFL Draft, when most believed eventual Superbowl champion Aaron Rodgers would either be picked #1, or fall all the way to #24 (which is where he was picked by the Green Bay Packers).
The Jaguars made it even more interesting, when they used the 3rd pick in the draft to select a quarterback not named Johnny Manziel, opting to go with University of Central Florida quarterback Blake Bortles to be their QB of the future. How Manziel operates in the Browns’ system will be very interesting, and an even more compelling story line will be how his rookie year compares to Bortles’, much like the Andrew Luck/Robert Griffin III story line from 2 seasons ago.
