Chicago is the city in the center of the fiery and controversial new Spike Lee joint Chi-Raq, and it hosted the film’s orange-carpet premiere on Sunday, November 22.
Director Lee, along with the star-studded cast and numerous famous Chicagoans, flocked to the infamous Chicago Theater as the movie was screened to select viewers. Celebrities including Nick Cannon, John Cusack, Empire‘s Trai Byers and Grace Gealey, Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Hudson and even Minister Louis Farrakhan all came out to support the satirical flick based on the unforgiving gang violence of the South Side of the city.
