Chief Keef has been releasing a steady influx of music despite being suspended by his label, FilmOnTV in November. The terms of his 360 deal with the streaming service/music label have raised problems with his management team.
The label is now filing a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Glo Gang manager Idris “Peeda Pan” Abdul Wahid, as well as several of Keef’s recent producers: Metro Boomin, Sonny Digital and Zaytoven. FilmOn is suing for a loss of revenue and breach of contract following the release of unauthorized music.
Chief Keef has performed in multiple shows and released several mixtapes since inking a deal with FilmOn head Alki David in May.
In a statement to the Chicago Tribune, David said that the suit does not target Chief Keef.
“FilmOn Music is not suing Chief Keef because we do not believe in suing talent. We believe Keef has (once again been) mislead by his management,”
Chief Keef’s last three projects, Nobody 2, Finally Rollin 2 and Almighty DP 2 were not official FilmOn releases. In November Billboard reported that Sosa is signed to a seven-album 360 deal with FilmOn.
FilmOn is no stranger to the legal system. David and his company, which is a web-streaming service that allows users to stream live television from their laptops and mobile devices, have been unsuccessfully sued multiple times by other streaming services and major broadcast networks.
Chief Keef is supposed to drop the third installment of his Back From the Dead series on Christmas.
