Watch This Massachusetts Store Owner Take On a Thief Armed With a Knife

This past Sunday [January 10, 2016] a knife-wielding thief jumped over the counter of a Fall River, Massachusetts convenience store demanding money.

However, the store’s owner had something waiting for 36-year old Jose Tirado-Sanchez when he decided to rob Jarek’s Market that morning.

The unnamed owner immediately retrieved his own kitchen knife for defense, leading to a dramatic altercation caught entirely on the store’s surveillance camera.

While the struggle went on for approximately a minute, the owner managed to knock the suspect’s knife to the ground while inadvertently doing the same to his own weapon.

The video shows Tirado-Sanchez gaining possession of the owner’s knife, using it against him, and, at one point, throwing a can of corn at the owner. Once the victim threw the money at him, the suspect fled.

“I was so scared. I didn’t know what I was doing. I think he wanted to kill me. I wanted to defend myself, that’s why I did it. He made me scared,” the owner stated.

Neither the suspect nor the owner suffered any serious injuries.

Jose Tirado-Sanchez has since been apprehended by authorities after an officer noticed a male fitting the description of the suspect while on an unrelated call.

The suspect has been charged with armed robbery while masked, armed assault to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and vandalizing property.
