The Cleveland Cavaliers Fire Head Coach David Blatt

In a shocking move, the Cleveland Cavaliers have fired their head coach David Blatt.

Blatt took over the team in the summer of 2014 when he was hired after an international campaign that made him one of the most winningest coaches in the sport.  After a slow start to the 2014-2015 season, Blatt and the Cavs–mainly LeBron James–began to mesh better, allowing Cleveland to reach the NBA Finals in LeBron’s first season back from Miami, but the Golden State Warriors finished them off in 6 games.

This year, though the Cavs are the #1 team in the Western Conference at the midway point of the season, James and Blatt’s relationship has been continually tumultuous, and whispers of LeBron preferring assistant coach and former player Tyronn Lue at the head coaching position turned to murmurs, which gave way to full-blown rumors. Sure enough, just minutes ago, Yahoo! Sports‘s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Tyronn Lue has landed his first-ever head coaching position, reaching a multi-year deal with the Cavs to replace Blatt.
