Behind The Lens: A Tribute To Spike Lee

Spike Lee is well known for sending powerful messages through his films centered around controversial issues like racism, politics, and violence in the urban communities.

Lee has celebrated Black culture through films like Malcolm X and School Daze, just to name a few. He founded and and produced over 35 films with his own production company, 40 Acres & A Mule Filmworks, after his breakthrough film She’s Gotta Have It (1986).

With the start of Black History Month and award season in full swing, it’s only right we take a look at Lee’s accomplishments (since the Oscars left out the “flava” once again):
