Russell Westbrook is one of the most–if not the singular most–fiery players in the NBA, which naturally bubbles over from his aggressive drives and defensive mechanisms to his interaction with players, reporters, and oh, let’s not forget referees. Surprisingly, he doesn’t have a penchant for collecting technical fouls as often as you’d think, but every once in a while, one of the boys-in-stripes gets under Russell’s skin, and we get one of these hilarious gems, thanks to those hi-def, eavesdropping TV cameras.
During the Thunder’s blowout victory against the Denver Nuggets last night, Serge Ibaka routinely threw up a couple foul shots while Russell Westbrook got into it with a referee, who was apparently treating Westbrook in a paternal manner. In the above clip, you can hear Westbrook and the ref engage in a bit of somewhat inaudible jawing before the Thunder’s high-octane point guard very audibly yells out, “I got one daddy! That’s it!” The referee replies, “So do I!,” a response Westbrook brushes aside, opting instead to further clarify his point. “I got one pops!”
