The NBA family never disappoints when it comes to showing how appreciative they are of their fans. The “Boogie Down” Bronx was the place to be this week for an historical event that brought out WNBA /NBA Hall of Famers and living legends.
As NBA Cares turns 10 year old, the NBA decided to unveil their special 1,000th place for children to live, learn and play: The Colombus Madison Square Boys & Girls Club. With 50 children joining the club, the NBA family took the initiative to dedicate a newly renovated teen room. Along with the ribbon cutting ceremony, NBA and WNBA players and legends hosted a basketball clinic in the club’s gymnasium. Among the greats in attendance were New York Knicks great John Starks, NBA Hall Of Famers Nate “Tiny” Archibald, Bob Lanier, Brooklyn Nets forward Chris McCullough , WNBA Cares Ambassador Ruth Riley and WNBA Legend Kym Hampton.
Besides showing the youth how it’s done when he was winning championships in Boston, “Tiny” Archibald spoke with Source Sports about how important it is for the Boys & Girls Club to be in urban neighborhoods and how much times have changed from when he was playing in the NBA.
