As the NBA Finals head back to Oakland for Game 5, one of the league’s most respected forwards is about to make history no matter which team wins. Even though his current Warriors squad is up 3-1, if Cleveland does the unthinkable and comes back to bring home the city’s first professional sports title since 1968, Anderson Varejao will still receive his first ring, due to originally being a member of that team earlier in the season. The Brazilian, known as the “Wild Thing,” will become the first NBA player ever to earn a ring from either Eastern Conference championship or Western Conference championship team.

Varejao spent the majority of his career hooping for the Cavs. He was a major asset to LeBron James‘ early runs to the Eastern Conference and NBA Finals in which they fell short to teams such as the Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs. This season, Varejao appeared in 31 games for the Cavs before a trade deadline deal sent him to Portland in February. After the deal was made, the Trail Blazers waived the 12 year veteran then four days later, Anderson decided to sign with Golden State.
