Michelle Obama Makes Surprising BET Awards Cameo Honoring Chance The Rapper

Chance the Rapper received quite the praise when he accepted his BET Humanitarian Award on Sunday night, becoming the youngest person ever to win the accolade.

The 24-year-old musician and philanthropist got emotional as Former First Lady Michelle Obama paid tribute to his efforts and even said he was her ‘friend’.

‘We are so incredibly proud of you, Chance,’ the former FLOTUS said to thunderous applause.

‘We have known Chance and his family since he was a wee little baby rapper and it has been a thrill watching him come into his own in so many ways. In addition to making some really amazing music, Chance has been taking that big bright spotlight that follows him around and shining it on our hometown of Chicago. Chance is showing our young people that they matter, they have something inside of them that is worthy of being expressed.’

The activist musician has donated $1 million to his hometown of Chicago along with having successful campaigns to give the city’s homeless outwear and to get people to the voting booth during the 2016 election. Camera’s panning to the father-of-one showed him emotional with tears in his eyes after the first lady’s sweet words.

In his acceptance speech, Chance declared his love for Black people before going on an extensive rant on what the government could do to fix things in America.
