Blackish Star Marsai Martin Set to Star in Upcoming Film

At the tender age of 13, Black-ish star Marsai Martin will star in an upcoming comedy titled Little. Not only will she star in the movie, she came up with the idea and pitched it. She will be sharing the executive producer title.

The story will be about a woman who is tired of the stress of being an adult, and wants to live the carefree life of a child, played by Martin. Tracy Oliver, Girls Trip writer, wrote the first draft for the comedy. Sitting in the director’s chair is the woman behind Drumline, Tina Gordon. She also has written the most recent draft of the script.

Marsai shares the executive producer role with Regina Hall, Josh Martin, and Black-ish creator Kenya Barris. This will be Martin’s first feature film. She has been on Black-ish as the lovable and sassy Diane Johnson for the past three years. She’s following in her “big sister’s” footsteps, Yara Shahidi, by making boss moves and doing things on her own exuding black girl magic.
