Ava DuVernay has secured a major bag. The Queen Sugar director inked a multi-year deal with Warner Brothers Television. Although the terms were not disclosed, it’s being reported that the deal is worth over 100 million dollars.

Describing the nature of the deal, Duvernay responded:

“I’ve had nothing but beautiful experiences working with Peter Roth, Susan Rovner and Brett Paul. They love and support artists in wonderful and nourishing ways. They work within a traditional studio headed by Kevin Tsujihara that is stirring with untraditional energy and fresh protocols for intentional, inclusive image-making. Warner Bros. is a terrific partner about matters of visibility and belonging for all kinds and cultures of people, which is our mission at Forward Movement. I couldn’t be happier to call Warner Bros. TV my production home.”

Warner Bros understands that Ava DuVernay is one of the best T.V and film directors in the game. Warner Bros. TV Group President and Chief Content Officer Roth said, “ Ava DuVernay is one of the leading lights in our industry, a brilliantly talented writer, producer, director and entrepreneur whose ability to inspire with her art is exceeded only by her ability to entertain. We have had the great pleasure of working with her on Queen Sugar and The Red Line, and we are extremely excited about the new stories she has to tell.”

The deal comes as DuVerany is busy at work creating projects. She is working on The Central Park Five, a scripted miniseries and a Prince documentary for Netflix. Besides the OWN hit drama Queen Sugar, she is directing a forthcoming CBS drama The Red Line. The beauty of the deal is that she can sell projects to other networks and platforms without being tied to one permanent place. That’s called #BlackGirlsMagic.

We salute you Ava Duvernay.
