SOURCE SPORTS: New Orleans Pelicans Lose Franchise Worst 12 Straight Games

With a loss on Sunday to the Orlando Magic, The New Orleans Pelicans suffer their 12th straight loss, a franchise-worst losing streak for the team and their Head Coach Alvin Gentry. The Pelicans 130-119 loss at The Smoothie King Arena in New Orleans sets up the question of how secure is Gentry’s job in The Big Easy.

The Pelicans’ last win came in a 3 point victory over the Phoenix Suns on November 21. Gentry’s team has yet to win a game in December and currently holds the second-worst record in the Western Conference at 6-21.

One positive factor for the Pelicans has been what has been a breakout year for Brandon Ingram who was dealt to the Pelicans in the trade for Anthony Davis. Ingram is crushing his career scoring average by putting up 25 points a game,  10 points more than his career average and 7 points more than his average from last season. The 22-year-old is also averaging a career-high 7 rebounds.

The Pelicans have also been without the number one overall draft pick Zion Williamson who has been dealing with a knee injury. The former Duke Blue Devil reportedly could sit out the entire season. Williamson looked like a great fit in a fast-paced Pelicans offense, especially in the preseason when Zion was putting up 30 point performances.

The Pels will get a rematch against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday. The Nets beat the Pelicans by 10 back in November.
